Fog and Ember's
Mayu said we're in the lost village -- All God's Village. That, like the
legend says, we we're spirited away. Crimson butterflies with a ghostly
glow to them flutter over this village like watcher's, but what are they
watching? A crimson butterfly is the reason we were now standing on a
hill with a giant altar in the dead of night with the path taken to the
village vanished beyond the torii gate that stands alone.
To think, not to far off, Mayu and I sat by the small stream we use to
try to catch crayfish in. We wanted to say goodbye to our childhood
secret spot as a lake created by a new dam would be flooding it over in
a coming months.
In an instant, Mayu seemed to be pulled by a single crimson
butterfly...
Mayu and I headed down the east side of this hill and found a messenger
bag with a few news clippings. I remember hearing the stories from the
clippings we found. A man who was surveying the area for the dam
builders had gone missing about two weeks ago. Makimura, Masumi. Perhaps
he was lost here, too?
There was a picture, too. I believe it was Masumi because I remember his
picture on broadcasts and I think the woman is Sudo, Miyako. I believe
she is his long-term girlfriend as she was interviewed many times during
the search.
I understand that Masumi may have trapped himself here, but, if he's
been here, how are these clippings here? He couldn't have had them.
Could Miyako have lost herself as well? Where are they?
Mayu and I are keeping ourselves on the hill. After we found the bag and
clippings we headed back up to the small burning laterns to have a
better look of the papers and photograph's.
If Masumi and Miyako are here, perhaps we should find them. They may
know more about the village and how to leave. Still, what if they did
leave?
No matter, Mayu and I must start looking for a way out soon. We have no
food and no concept of time. It feels like 20 minutes, but could it be
more?
Why did that butterfly lead us here?
